If any one has any ideas we are open to suggestions. Present your ideas at the next meeting or call Ed Stephens at (337)436-0423 or estephen@mcneesemail.net.

Field Day

We need to prepare the airfield for our annual fly-in so Saturday October 6(after our meeting) will be set aside for sprucing up the field to receive our guests at the October Fly-In. This is the one time all year we do all the little things that may not get done every grass cutting. If everyone participates and brings weedeaters and lawn mowers we can get the field in tip top shape in short order. We should put our best face on for our fly-in visitors so lets all participate and get the grass, ditches, weeds and trash cans like they should be. We also need to thoroughly clean the concession stand and get it ready to serve our guests. Visitors are generally curious about everything at the airfield this includes hangers. This might be a good month to put your hanger in shape for visitors. They will probably explore your hanger. With everything shipshape we can all enjoy the October Fly-in activities.

October's Fly-in

we will hold our annual fly-in on Saturday October 13 at the Light Plane Flyers airfield. If we encounter inclement weather on this day we will postpone the activities to Saturday October 20th. The Club President Ed Stephens will make the weather call on Friday October 12 before 5:00 PM. If the weather is in question you can call any one of the club officers, their numbers are in the header of every newsletter

Last Meeting

The September meeting was attended by Tommy Savoy, Jim Lawlis, Richard LeDoux, Ed McStay, Ed Stephens.

Business

We will need to take care of all the details for the October Fly-In at the next meeting. Some of the things we need to finalize are:

1  .Food and drinks, who will cook, who will serve.

2.  What events will we have? Flying competition, bomb drop, spot landing, balloon bust, torpedo run, limbo. Who will umpire and keep records? Who will get supplies (balloons, bombs, targets, lime to mark the field, torpedoes, etc.etc.)

3.  Make arrangements for a portable toilet.

4.  How do we let non members know of the event?

5.  Airboss. Someone responsible for the safety of the participants and spectators to act as our control tower. Keep things on schedule.

6.  What time do we open the field? We need to develop a schedule of events. We tentatively scheduled the flying competition for 9:00 am.

7.  Trash how do we prepare for all the trash that we will generate and how do we dispose of it.

This is probably not a complete list so bring your ideas, we will need to get a lot done at the next business meeting on October 6th.

As I am new to the club, this is new to me. Sound Like a great Idea! So I understand it to be: Every December we have a dinner for club members and wives. This has always been a nice informal way to visit and get to know one another and our families better. We usually go to a restaurant with a banquet room large enough accomodate us all so we can have a private party. Those of us who like to speak in front of crowds will usually provide some entertainment. The agenda is very loose with a priority on doing what ever we want. The meal is Dutch treat. So everyone try and fit this into your December schedule. If we have some suggested dates or new ideas out there lets bring them to the meetings and see if we can't improve an already pretty nice evening.
