                   Research

Dr. Darbeau's research focus on deamination chemistry and includes (1) development of novel deaminative methods, (2) generation and study of longer-lived and more reactive carbocations, (3) spectroscopic study of metastable intermediates, (4) elucidation of the Nitrogenous Entity Separated Ion Pair (NESIP) model, (5) deamination as a probe of carbocation-mediated reactions, (6) synthetic and biochemical aspects of deamination. Friedel-Crafts and Polymer chemistry are also heavily studied as are the syntheses of anti-cancer compounds with deaminative modes of action.
