HPLC

The Varian Dynamax SD-200/SD-300 High Performance Liquid Chromatographic System can perform analytical and semi-preparative separations of organic and biological samples.  It can run programmable gradient and isocratic elutions and possesses variable temperature capacity.  The system is equipped with UV-Visible and refractive index detectors and is fully computer-interfaced.  In tandem with the GC, the HPLC gives students first-hand experience with the two most powerful and most commonly used chromatographic techniques in industry and research.  It also allows students to view how chromatography can be used in an analytical sense to aid in the identification of compounds, and in a preparative sense for purifications of mixtures of compounds.
